Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Attlee’s Mission Completed. DESCRIPTION: From Washington to Ottawa and, at Rockliffe Airport, Mr Attlee received a very friendly greeting from Canada’s Prime Minister, Mr St Laurent. Mr Attlee was greeted by his wife and Mr Bevin when he arrived home at London Airport. When the Prime Minister said a few words to the press, Movietone was on the spot with a microphone. SHOTLIST: KS. Stratocruiser taxies. Stratocruiser comes to standstill, Mr Attlee alights at Rockliffe Airport, Ottawa, greeted by Mr St Laurent. Snow covered ground. Attlee & St Laurent walk past camera. GV Parliament House. MS block where Attlee is staying. Interior - CU St Laurent & Attlee. SCU of the above with painting of Mackenzie King in background. From airport, both drives away in car, Mounties look on. Slip-pan. Mrs Attlee waiting at London Airport, Stratocruiser to standstill, Mrs Attlee enters plane. Mr Attlee alight with Mrs Attlee. Elevated MS Attlee making way through crowds. Pakenham was there to greet him. Attlee says a few words about his trip, also doesn’t think there will be war. MS Attlees & Mr Bevin. Slip pan. Car drive up to No 10 Downing Street, Attlee alights. SCU Attlee at door posing before entering. Enters out of camera.
