- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Water for Durban. DESCRIPTION: Natal’s great seaport, Durban, has grown so fast that the question of water-supply has been a really big problem. The solution is a new dam, on which work began as long ago as 1939; it’s on a horseshoe bend of the River Umgeni about thirty miles from the city. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. SCU-SV of water pouring from dam. Aerial of Natal - very large. Various maps of the area where dam is being built, on the Umgeni River. Various angle shots of the Nagle Dam under construction. CU huge dam wall. GV cement being carried along cables, emptying cement in position. GV countryside including (thousand hills). GV valley. GV native village, children playing or washing in stream.
