- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: New Guinea Progress. DESCRIPTION: Since the air attacks of the Japanese in 1942, Port Moresby has undergone considerable reconstruction and rebuilding. There has been political progress, too, under the successful trusteeship of Australia, the inauguration of a Legislative Council has taken place, which has a number of native members. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV Port Moresby Harbour. Convoy approaching harbour. Overhead formation of Japanese bombers. Ship in convoy being bombed, bombs falling in harbour. GV harbour today, aboard canoe passing along river-way. Various shots of buildings, natives walk through streets. Policeman walks through streets. Legislative Council enter building, (school). Interior - ditto in progress. Marchpast of native troops, General Sir John Northcott takes salute, cut-in of natives watching same.
