Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Eisenhower Nominated at Chicago. DESCRIPTION: The end came suddenly at the Republican Party Convention in Chicago. Eisenhower was in the lead but did not look like having his majority on the first ballot, till Minnesota State asked to change its vote. That settled it. Other delegations followed and Ike’s votes were run up to a big majority. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Elevated GV crowds in hall. Various shots of the crowds shouting etc. States announce their votes. Dewey announces for New York, crowds cheer. Minnesota announces that it wishes to change its vote, cheers from crowds for Eisenhower. Crowds cheer, Eisenhower with wife enters. Eisenhower addresses the gathering.
