- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Duchess of Kent Gets Freedom. DESCRIPTION: The Duchess of Kent, with her son the Duke of Kent, were received in Singapore by the Governor, Mr John Nicoll, and Mr Malcolm MacDonald, South East Asia Commissioner-General. The next day, Her Royal Highness was presented with the Honorary Freedom of the City. The Duchess also visited a new tuberculosis clinic and the Asian Hospital. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV airport. Plane arrives, Duchess & Duke alight received by John Nicoll & Malcolm MacDonald. Drive through cheering city. GV outside City Hall, MacDonald in academic robes await Duchess. Receives royal couple. Duchess inspects Guard of Honour. Hands over casket containing freedom. Child hands bouquet to Duchess. Later - Duchess inspects St John’s Ambulance & Red Cross workers, walks through tuberculosis hospital. Walking through the Asian hospital, chats with staff (silent).
