Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Queen’s Opening of Parliament. DESCRIPTION: The Royal drive to the Palace of Westminster followed tradition, but the occasion was of particular historic interest - Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second was on her way to the House of Lords to deliver her first speech from the Throne. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV Houses of Parliament from south side of river. Household Cavalry riding out of Buckingham Palace. Carriage bearing Queen & Duke. Cut-ins of Prince Charles looking out of window. And later Princess Anne comes to window. Royal carriage driving through Horse Guards Parade into Whitehall. Preceded by horse-riding escort. Crowds cheering. GV procession approaching Palace of Westminster, panning shot of carriage passing, Guard of Honour band lining entrance strike up National Anthem. Cut-ins carriage into Palace of Westminster. CU Royal Standard. Mix to procession inside Palace of Westminster (still). Mix to crowds outside Buckingham Palace. Queen and Duke on balcony.
