Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Queen at Rotorua. DESCRIPTION: The royal visit to Rotorua was the occasion for the biggest Maori welcome of all. The Queen and the Duke were entertained by the Maoris with their traditional dances and songs. During the performance, a five-year-old girl apparently decided to greet the Queen on her own account. Her Majesty, obviously amused, let her stay of the dais. Later, the royal visitors proceeded to Rotorua’s famous hot springs and geysers. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Car bearing Royal couple through streets. Crowds gathered. Queen is challenged by Maori chief. Maoris dancing. Queen takes seat on dais. Accepts ceremonial cloak or Korowai. SCU in same. Queen sits down. Then Duke receives a similar cloak. Maori women dancing. A little girl goes up onto dais, speaks to Queen. Queen chats to her. Child allowed to stay on dais.
