MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Tour. Queen in Ceylon. DESCRIPTION: The Queen celebrated her birthday in Ceylon, and before leaving that beautiful land, she attended a birthday parade in her honour. Previously the Queen and the Duke had gone up-country to Polonnaruwa, where a visit was made to the famous shrine amid the rocks. A great welcome was given to Her Majesty and the Duke when they went on to Kandy. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Birthday Parade for Queen. Soldiers, sailors and airmen marchpast. Queen & Duke take salute. Above Colombo. Polonnaruwa - Queen and Duke in Land Rover. Visit to shrine. Rock carved Buddha. GV of shrine in rocks. Kandy - Queen & Duke entertained by Kandy dancers. Elephant parade. Kandyian Chiefs in beautiful robes presented to Queen and Duke. At night illuminations and torchlight procession. Elephants and dancers perform. Queen & Duke on balcony. This is known as the ‘Raja Perahera’ Procession.
