MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Oxford Common Week / Lands End to John O’groats Start. DESCRIPTION: The dreaming spires of Oxford are crumbling, stone decaying into dust. An appeal has been started to make good the ravages of some 300 years of weather. At Lands End another difficult Oxford undertaking - a relay run to John O’Groats. Then again to Oxford - and one of Oxford’s Common Week Balls. SHOTLIST: Various shots of the stone work around Oxford, which is crumbling due to the weather. 2 shots of the rocks off Lands End. CU of sign advertising relay run from Lands End to John O’Groats on behalf of the appeal fund to save the stone work. Shot of athlete standing on scales, being weighed in. Mass of athletes running towards camera at start of the race. MCU of lone runner who hands a piece of paper to another athlete who runs off.
