Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Pm Leaves for Tour & Chancellor of the Exchequer. DESCRIPTION: Mr Peter Thorneycroft resigns his office as Chancellor of the Exchequer after a disagreement in the Cabinet over pruning the estimates for the coming year. His place is taken by Mr Amory, formerly Minister of Agriculture. A BOAC Britannia waited at London Airport, before boarding it, the Premier spoke of his tour and the crisis.
