- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Ceylon Floods. DESCRIPTION: From the air it was possible to grasp something of the immensity of Ceylon’s flood calamity. At one time the flood-waters engulfed almost half the island. Loss of life and damage to property has been on an unparalleled scale. In three days, disaster came to over two million people in three provinces. The tragedy was caused by exceptionally heavy rain and the overflowing of reservoirs. SHOTLIST: Aerial floods.
