- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Queen in the Yukon. DESCRIPTION: From British Colombia, the royal travellers flew to the Yukon. It is a bitter land of winters eight months long, and rugged territory, with Canada’s highest mountains. This land is for ever famous for the gold rush of ‘98. The Town of Whitehorse, which got its start in life then, was out to welcome the Queen. Her Majesty visited the gold rush museum and was keenly interested in the relics of 1898. Whitehorse is itself a museum-piece, and the railway from the Pacific to this town was built in 1900. It was the railway, now modernised, which took the Queen and the Prince for a sight-seeing trip, beside the Yukon River. SHOTLIST: Aerial view Rockies, same showing glaciers.
