Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Pakistan Greets Queen in Colour. DESCRIPTION: A Palace in a lake - a last glimpse of India before we followed the Queen to Pakistan. Here she was at Udaipur as guest of the Maharana, and she met many rulers of other Indian States, during a very colourful reception. Then, down to the shores of the Pachola Lake, to go across to the fabulous Jagmandir Water Palace. This was the day before the Royal couple left for Pakistan. Karachi Airport, and the Britannia was right on time bringing Her Majesty to spend 16 days in the country. It seemed as if all Karachi’s 2 million had turned out for the occasion. The young folk of a new township, not far from the city, had laid on a spectacular show for Prince Philip, which included the well-known Khattack dance. The Queen had another engagement at the time, but joined her husband when they visited the site of the memorial to Mr Jinnah, the founder of this country which became a Republic nearly 5 years ago.
