Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Scottish Tour. DESCRIPTION: Danderhall Primary School was the first stop during the Queen’s 40-mile tour of Midlothian. The Queen and the Prince had a seven-hour programme to complete, with short halts at many places. One of the engagements at Bonnyrigg was the inspection of a carpet-factory. Highlight of the next day was a visit to the Gorbals, while the Queen and Prince Philip were in Glasgow. When Her Majesty entered a tenement block here, it was the first royal inspection of such a property in this notorious district. But the area is to have some famous new buildings at last, and a model of the new housing scheme was on view. SHOTLIST: Key scene. LS Danderhall Primary School.
