- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Landfall Sydney. DESCRIPTION: Fifty years ago, a ship like the Dewarutji, a small barquentine from Indonesia, would have caused no stir. Today, she’s a curiosity. Compare her with the P&O - Orient Liner Canberra, which steamed in just afterwards: 45,000-tons of luxury afloat, and commanded by Captain Geoffrey Wild. Passengers on her maiden voyage had a marvellous time, and there’s something for everyone aboard this wonderful ship. Canberra’s magnificence, by the way, was well matched by the modernity of Sydney’s Overseas Terminal, where she berthed. SHOTLIST: Key scene. MLS Dewarutji a small barquentine at sea. GV same.
