- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Fastest Marathon. DESCRIPTION: Windsor Castle was the starting point of the Polytechnic Marathon to Chiswick. Up to now the fastest time over the Windsor-Chiswick course of 26 miles, 385 yards was just over 2 hours, 17 minutes, set by Jim Peters in 1954. This year, 25-year old Leonard Edelen set the fastest time for the distance recorded anywhere in the world, 2 hours, 14 minutes and 28 seconds. The handsome trophy is his!
