Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Smithfield Show. DESCRIPTION: The Smithfield Show was first held in 1799, and the story of the show is the story of British agriculture. The record entry of over five hundred cattle illustrates the quest for quality which has been reflected at Smithfield for over a century and a half. Altogether the livestock entries number more than 16,000. Machinery on show, worth around half a million pounds underlines a tremendous capital investment in the land.
