- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Submarine Escapers Set Depth Record. DESCRIPTION: On board the HMS Orpheus, two officers and ten ratings are perfecting a new escape technique, developed by Royal Naval boffins back in Britain. The escaper doesn’t have breathing apparatus. He wears a special suit and breathes only the air trapped in his suit while on his way to the surface. During these trials a new depth record has been beaten of 450 ft., which is a new World Record. SHOTLIST: LS submarine on surface just about to submerge. MS members of crew tightening clamp.
