Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Nijinsky Beaten. DESCRIPTION: Triple-Crown winner Nijinsky is odds-on favourite for the valuable Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe. But despite a desperate challenge in the last furlong Nijinsky suffers his first defeat, French Derby winner Sassafras wins by a head. SHOTLIST: TV 2 shots Lester Piggott on Nijinsky (No 9) before race. GV crowd in stand. LV under starters orders at 18’ horses out of starting gate pan with them. Piggott, high in the saddle on the far side holding back. Head on shot (slow motion) horses race towards. LV pan horses into bend. Head on shot (slow motion) horses round bend, Piggott still holding back. LTV pan slow motion down final straight Piggott on Nijinsky making his bid. STV pan slow motion Sassafras No 12 leading Nijinsky (9) and Miss Dan (No 15) Sassafras just hold off Nijinsky. SV crowd applaud SV pan winner Yves Saint-Martin on Sassafras.
