- Summary
- COI synopsis: The flow of North Sea oil depends upon the drilling of huge production rigs. But how to protect these partially submerged structures from underwater corrosion? Underwater welding has been possible for some time, but the strength of the wet weld is unsatisfactory. Now a new sub-ocean chamber which encloses the point in need of repair enables a diver to effect a perfect "dry" weld.
