- Summary
- The March of Time synopsis: The new issue of The March of Time contains an intriguing episode entitled "Liquor Business", revolving around the powerful factions of bootlegging and prohibition which threaten the 1 1/2 billion pound American distilling and brewing industry. In a factual survey of the situation, The March of Time depicts the stringent government measures necessary to combat bootlegging as 4,000 field agents - more than during prohibition - raid illicit distilleries to the extent of 300 a week. The film too, pictures the organised attempt of 7,000,000 prohibitionists, staging elaborate anti-alcoholic campaigns, using mass advertising - in an endeavour to educate the rising generation - to make America once again dry. And The March of Time records in this story the vain counter campaign of the distillers themselves, who urge moderation in drinking, as a slogan to placate the ardent drys.
