- Summary
- Bolton Wanderers meet Portsmouth in the final and thrilling tussle for football’s most coveted honour. The huge crowd nearly 100,000 became one’s vast choir. A storm of cheers from thousands of Bolton’s supporters signalled the entry of the famous "Trotters" led by "Jimmy" Seddon. A mighty roar greeted Johnny McIlwaine and "Pompey’s" team as they entered the arena. The Prince of Wales had a right royal reception. Bolton win the toss. Only slow-motion pictures can adequately "reveal the luck of the game". Neither side had scored at half-time --- Portsmouth more than sharing the honours after 35 minutes play. Butler scores for the "trotters". Again in slow motion. Three minutes from time, Blackmore scores again. Again in slow motion! The Prince of Wales presented the Cup amidst tremendous enthusiasm.
