About us

BoB is Learning on Screen’s on demand TV and radio service for education. Our academically-focused system allows staff and students at subscribing institutions to record programmes from over 65 free-to-air channels, and search our extensive archive.

As a core Learning on Screen resource, we’ve wanted to bring our members an even better BoB for some time. Over the last year we’ve listened to what our members want, and invested heavily in the service.

We are delighted to say the new BoB went live on 1 August, with a fresh look, enhanced video quality and more powerful searching capabilities. Then, in September, BoB will deliver a whole host of improvements:

  • A platform working across desktop, iOS and Android devices
  • Media records based on our TRILT metadata, supporting more powerful searching capabilities
  • Better programme coverage and a permanent archive of content from nine channels: BBC1 London / BBC2 / BBC4 / ITV London / Channel 4 / More4 / Channel 5 / BBC Radio 4 / BBC Radio 4 Extra
  • Better thumbnail previews on search results
  • Preview clips before saving
  • Label your own clips
  • Personalised email alerts when programmes are ready to view
  • More detailed citation data

We’re really excited about the changes we’re making to the system, and we know you will be too.

To sign in simply click the ‘sign in’ button on the home screen, then select your institution on the ‘Where Are You From?’ Screen. You’ll then be able to access BoB using your institution’s account details.

To subscribe to BoB, education institutions need to be a member of Learning on Screen and hold an ERA licence. Learning on Screen offers different levels of membership for universities, colleges and schools. Find out more about joining Learning on Screen or drop us an email at bob@bufvc.ac.uk.
