- Description
- What is it that defines a champion? In our second episode Michael will be trying to understand what makes the difference between those who line up on the start line and those who end up on the podium time and time again - The Serial Champions. We’ll explore the role of the mind in making champions, talking to serial champions including one of the most naturally gifted Snooker players of all time, 5 times World Champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan, 6 times Olympic cycling champion Sir Chris Hoy, and 20 time champion jockey AP McCoy. We’ll discover how mental strength can allow a rare few athletes to conquer not one sport but multiple sports, like the most successful British female Paralympian of all time, Dame Sarah Storey.
The difference between success and second best in elite sport is minute and Michael will be visiting some of the companies that are trying to make the most of those marginal gains in performance. We meet the King of these marginal gains, Sir Dave Brailsford, a man who has helped transform British cycling, nurturing some of the most successful athletes in the UK today, and we hear where he’s looking to find the next performance gains in his sport. We head back across to the States to visit a company that are thinking outside the box as they attempt to push the boundaries of what their extreme athletes can achieve, and Michael will be asking some of the leading performance experts what the future holds and whether we can continue to be stronger, faster and go further! - Genre
