Description
In this edition of ‘Well Connected’, Mariella Frostrup investigates how amateur and academic historians are using technology to revolutionise their researches.

She meets a professional singer who went looking on the internet for information on the father she never knew, and ended up re-uniting a family that had been torn apart by the second world war and the cold war.

Then she joins a group of local historians who are using the internet to help document their village’s past and in particular solve the mystery of a missing manor house. Their village’s 17th Century hall was dismantled and shipped to the USA in the 1920s. They want it back, and with the assistance of an internet-savvy academic and the global reach of the internet, they think they can find it.
