Synopsis
An introduction to Shakespearean tragedy through an examination of key scenes from four of the plays. It shows how Shakespeare explores the minds - often under intolerable stress - of his characters, with Ophelia, Othello, Lady Macbeth and King Lear as examples. Includes a scene analysing Ophelia’s madness in an imagined interview with her psychiatrist. It also offers insights into past and more recent interpretations and styles of presentation and acting. Produced for the Inner London Education Authority (ILEA) and written and presented by David Whitworth.
