- The production was much acclaimed. The BBC Audience Research Viewing Panel Report noted praise for the camerawork which ‘flowed with vigour and pace’.

- The production is one of the first in a series of eight Shakespeare plays produced for BBC by Cedric Messina who was to launch the production of the BBC TV Shakespeare series three years later.
