Queen’s Silver Jubilee Gala, The

Synopsis
The Royal Opera and the Royal Ballet perform in the presence of members of the Royal Family in celebration of the Her Majesty’s Silver Jubilee. Includes Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn dancing Hamlet Prelude, a short ballet choreographed by Frederick Ashton to music by Franz Liszt (Symphonic Poem No 10, Hamlet). The programme was devised and produced by Frederick Ashton and John Cope and produced for television by Brian Large. The Gala was introduced by Richard Baker and the interval presenter was Humphrey Burton.

The dance is included on the DVD ‘Fonteyn and Nureyev: the Perfect Partnership’. The DVD also contains Nureyev and Fonteyn dancing ‘the tomb scene’ from ROMEO AND JULIET (1966).
