Summary
US infantry on the road to Cherbourg. They enter the town of Montebourg and are engaged in house-to-house fighting in their attempts to flush out the remaining German soldiers. Fires rage through the town and day and night shots show the buildings still burning. The following morning villagers appear from their underground hideouts and start to prepare food in rough open kitchens. The desolate ruins of Lingevres, the next town, where no one is to be seen. Outside the town of Tilley, British guns shell German mortar positions inside the town. On entering Tilley, British troops watch out for snipers and Royal Engineers are called in to clear mines and booby traps from the streets.
