Summary
On February 21st Scottish and Welsh troops fighting with the Canadian First Army, under the Command of General Crerar, completed the occupation of the enemy’s stronghold of Goch, south east of the Reichswald Forest. Three nights previously in a silent assault, men of the Canadian First had broken into the town and after some fierce house-to-house fighting two-thirds of the place was in British hands. The night attack caught the enemy by complete surprise and the Commander of the German Garrison and his staff were captured while asleep in their beds. Film shows tanks and troops in action in the town of Goch and Montgomery in jeep driving towards Goch. Large numbers of German POWs walking along road.
