Summary
The world is startled by the surprise and almost secret meeting between Premier Harold Wilson and Rebel Rhodesian leader Ian Smith on board the Navy’s crack cruiser HMS Tiger. The rendezvous arranged under a strict cloak of secrecy was discovered when Mr Smith was seen leaving Salisbury Airport. Immediately the press of the world swung into action - was this to be the end of a year’s deadlock, would UDI be ended, would a solution acceptable to African and other coloured nations result from this summit at sea?
