- Summary
- Pathe synopsis: In the heart of the champagne country, we filmed the Cochelet - the ancient French ceremony that takes place when the last basket of grapes leaves the vineyard on its way to the wine-presses and cellars. And what cellars they are. In one celebrated chateau there’s a four-mile network of them - a great rambling bed-chamber for the Queen of Wines. There’s a French medal for special excellence awarded each year to people or projects that have displayed exceptional quality. And the chateau won it with a champagne they named after Marie Antoinette, who visited the vineyard two hundred years ago. So, amid the pomp and excitement, to a trumpet fanfare and a salute of a hundred popping corks, Marie Antoinette returned.
