- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Japs Raid Port Darwin. DESCRIPTION: Twenty-seven Japanese bombers raid the North Australian port of Darwin. SHOTLIST: Enemy planes, 27 in all fling a rain of high explosives. Oil storage tanks are blasted and are seen burning heavily. The port is damaged. Commentary Twenty-seven Japanese bombers raid Darwin, the North Australian port on the frontier of General MacArthur’s command. Even before Midway, the American victory in the Coral Sea discouraged Japanese ideas of swift invasion at that time, which may partly account for the fierce, though less ambitious attacks by bomber.
