Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Cassino Falls. DESCRIPTION: Cassino, the scene of one of the most grim and stubborn battles of the war, has been out-flanked, captured and occupied by British troops. What was left of the monastery was occupied by Polish troops. SHOTLIST: Cut story - GS of Cassino in ruins. British troops climb over rubble of the once Hotel Continental. GS of Cassino ruins. Troops pass through ruins. LS of German prisoners waving flag of surrender, also Red Cross Flag. German prisoners over rubble into camera. LS ruins of Monastery, and GS of Polish troops at look-out of Monastery. Polish troops look at art treasures, blue mosaic of the Virgin Mary, etc. still undamaged in the Monastery. Pan down to dug-out shows German mortar shells in same, also German weapon similar to the American Bazooka. Two shots of (unrecognisable) Union Jack and Polish flags fly at highest points of remains of Monastery.
