Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Tour of Scotland. DESCRIPTION: The people of Galashiels welcome the Royal Family. At Perth the Queen receives the Freedom of the City on behalf of the Black Watch. SHOTLIST: KS. Elevated shot of Royal cars arrive at Galashiels. Royal Party stand by cars, they are accompanied by Lt Philip Mountbatten. Presentations. Royal party walk through cheering crowds, towards Burgh Chambers. Stop at statue of Border Warrior. Various GVs. MS Jedburgh Abbey in ruins (ancient), various angle shots of same, with Royal party surveying same. Members of the Burgh being presented to Royal Party (silent), hand shaking. Trucking shots of Royal cars driving through streets crowded with cheering and waving people. Queen alights from car at Perth is received by Lord Provost Ure Primrose, standing next to the Lord Provost is Lord Wavell in uniform of Colonel of the Black Watch. GV Black Watch Regiment paraded before the Queen, the shoulder arms, two flag bearers in the fore holding the Union Jack and Queen’s Standard. SCU Lord Provost presents Queen on behalf of the Black Watch with the Freedom Scroll. GV Black Watch regiment. SCU Queen addressing the regiment and thanking for Freedom Scroll. Queen dismounts dais followed by Lord Provost and Lord Wavell. SLIP PAN on the Clyde. GV of British fleet, bank in the fore. Shot taken from boat, rounding the stern of HMS Duke of York. Aboard flight deck of Aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious, lift to flight deck ascending. Public walk around, look at aircraft Fireflies on deck. Liberty boat makes for the shore loaded with sailors, sailors jump ashore. Shots of them along promenade at Greenock with girls etc. GV elevated of the British fleet in the Clyde.
