Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: French Strikes. DESCRIPTION: France, particularly Paris, is in the grip of widespread strikes. In Northern France the miners came out and rumours of a General Strike have been circulating. SHOTLIST: KS GV entrance of factory. Troops at flour factory loading lorries with flour, driving same out of factory, arrive at destination, deliver same. At Citroen Motor Works, gendarmes mingle with strikers, keeping the peace, workers passing out of factory show their passes. GVs idle mines, pitheads, coal trucks on sidings empty etc. Miners sit around playing cards, talking etc. CU types. Machinery idle, engine rooms empty, engines stopped. Former Communist Mayor addresses strikers, several shots. CU types listening. Shots of mines and pitheads to finish.
