Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: British Champ Off to New York. DESCRIPTION: Randolph Turpin’s departure in the Queen Mary from Southampton made headline news, for his victory over Sugar Ray Robinson had thrilled the British public - and now he was off to America to see whether he could repeat the performance. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV Queen Mary at quayside. Turpin walks along platform, at Waterloo Station, standing by door waves. Train pulls out of station. Taken from train - shot of signal-box just outside station with the words Waterloo - very useful stock shot. Inside train Josie Middleton with Turpin’s hand in hers, telling his fortune. Walking along deck of Queen Mary into camera with Middleton, Solomons, etc. Several shots of above group. LS Peter Wilson of Daily Express with Turpin standing by mike. CU Turpin being interviewed on the forthcoming fight.
