Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Japanese Shipbuilding. DESCRIPTION: General Ridgeway (UN Supreme Commander in the Far East) recently went with his wife to Yokohama for the launching of a new Japanese liner. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Ship down slipway - out of camera. General Ridgeway & Mrs Ridgeway arrive on platform. Japanese girl presents bouquet to Mrs Ridgeway. Ceremonial hatchet presented to Mrs Ridgeway. Hits line with hatchet & bottle crashes on bows of ship. Ship slipping down slipway. Large ball opens on bows as ship slips down slipway, disclosing various paper flags, etc. Cut-in Mrs Ridgeway applauding.
