Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Tokyo May Day Riots. DESCRIPTION: The celebration of May Day in Tokyo was attended by the American Socialist leader, Mr Norman Thomas; and although the big meeting began in orderly fashion, it was soon disrupted by Communists who stormed the speaker’s rostrum. This led to one of the worst riots in Japan’s history. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV meeting. GV meeting, also SCU Norman Thomas, US Socialist leader. Communists climb onto rostrum, cause utter disruption. Communists parade through streets, fighting, turning over cars, burning them, etc. American being pulled out of moat. Communists attack police, various shots.
