Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Wimbledon Opens. DESCRIPTION: World-famous Wimbledon is open again and what a draw this great meeting is. Everyone wants to see the tennis personalities arrive and there were plenty of stars there for the first day. Two seeded players were knocked out - Larsen (USA) was beaten by Johansson of Sweden and Ham Richardson lost to Ampon (Philippines). SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Crowd shot. Crowds. In the grounds, Mrs Weiss, Susan Partridge, Pat Todd, Frank Sedgman, Geoffrey Paish, & Drobny. Savitt on centre court versus Kumar (India). Match point win for Savitt. Larsen walks off court having been beaten by Johansson (Sweden), two walk off court. Ham Richardson & Ampon, in play, Ampon small in stature, beats Ham Richardson over six feet tall. Couple walk off.
