Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: International Horse Race. DESCRIPTION: At Laurel Park, Maryland, the Washington International included horses from many countries. Charlie Smirke, riding on Worden II owned by an American living in Paris, shot past the field to win the £23,000 event. SHOTLIST: Cut story - At Laurel Park a field of ten got away from tape. ‘Worden II’ ridden by C Smirke. ‘Silnet’, ‘Wilwyn’ ridden by Mercer. ‘Iceberg II’ and ‘Crafty Admiral’ some of the horses. Charlie Smirke brings ‘Worden II’ up on the outside and goes on to win by six lengths. This is a one-and-a-half mile race for £23,000.
