Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Cross-Country Championship at Cardington (Pirie Wins Barefoot). DESCRIPTION: Gordon Pirie, having won the event twice before scored his third victory in the English Cross Country Championship from a field of 750. He finished the race barefoot after losing one of his shoes in the mud. SHOTLIST: CU Pirie in his track suit. GV the start (750 competitors). Pirie next seen holding substantial lead and negotiating very slushy conditions. The finish and a CU of Pirie displaying his bare feet (he lost one shoe and discarded the other in the course of the race).
