- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Mayfair Meters. DESCRIPTION: London has chosen a famous square in Mayfair for the start of the parking meter system. Already parked in Grosvenor Square, the Mayor of Westminster welcomed Mr Richard Nugent of the Transport Ministry. And in went Mr Nugent’s money. Then, came a sportsman, who didn’t mind putting his hand in his pocket, for a good cause. After all, something has to be done about the London traffic: and this is one way to try. Another kind of try-on: muscling in on space already paid for. SHOTLIST: CU Parking meters. GV Grosvenor Square. CU nameplate of same. (3) Man uncovering meters. MS Mr Nugent arrives. MS Colonel Robert Grosvenor looks on. MS Mr Nugent inserts coin. (3) shots showing lack of cars in Square. MS man gets out of car. CU man puts coin into meter. MS Bubble car parks between two cars.
