Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Melbourne Cup. DESCRIPTION: Twenty-eight runners, ready for Australia’s biggest race, the Melbourne Cup. It was a tough two-mile journey, and for a long way none of the jockeys seemed inclined to set the pace. Somewhere in the middle of the bunch was a horse called MacDougal. And it was MacDougal’s race, the first horse to win the Brisbane Cup, the Metropolitan and the Melbourne Cup in one year! Governor-General Sir William Slim presented the Cup. SHOTLIST: Key scene.
