MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Guns for Scrap. DESCRIPTION: The breaking up of the Vanguard has begun. She cost 9 million pounds to build, not counting her 15-inch guns. This 50,000 ton battleship had eight of them, and now, in the Gareloch, they’re being removed. The guns have quite a history: they were first mounted in HMS Courageous and Glorious, two hush-hush Cruisers of World War One. SHOTLIST: LS Vanguard. MLS guns. MCU guns being removed. MCU gun barrel sawn off. MCU hoisting gun barrel. MLS gun barrel on deck. LS the rest of the ship’s guns. LS gun barrel being lowered.
