- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Springboks Beat England. DESCRIPTION: There was a capacity crowd at Twickenham, anticipating a great match, when England kicked off against the Springboks. This was the fifth time the two countries had met, and England had yet to win. The present team from South Africa, unbeaten on the tour so far, and with two hard-won tests to their credit, were soon putting on the pressure. It was a mauling match for most of the time, a fierce battle between bull-dozing forwards, with close marking and grim tackling. A disappointing match from most of the spectators’ point of view: 5 nil for the Springboks. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV crowds TS to LS England kick off. CU crowd. MLS Springboks attacking. CU crowd.
