- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: On With the Job. DESCRIPTION: They started the Hammersmith Flyover last October. So everyone was delighted when it was time for Mr Edmonds (of the London County Council) to celebrate. There was champagne for the lowering of the last cantilever unit into position. Now, only thirty-seven weeks after the main work began, the biggest part of the job was done. The Flyover, a vital unit in the programme of speeding the flow of traffic between London and the West, is expected to be open to traffic in the Autumn. That’s nothing, said half a dozen men putting up a building on London’s South Bank. We can do our job in ninety minutes. Largely pre-fab, of-course, but a good demonstration of a speedy new system!
