MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Grand National 1963 (Colour). DESCRIPTION: There are plenty of other ‘chases, but there’s only one Grand National! Our pictures show all the highlights of the World’s Greatest Steeplechase, run at Aintree. SHOTLIST: Key scene (fade in). GV crowds, bookies (6 shots). MCU Gregory Peck and wife, Veronique. MS list of runners. MS horses parading round. MS Kim Novak. MS Nicolaus Silver. MLS Springbok. MLS Kilmore (ridden by Fred Winter). GV crowd. LS horses into position. CU spectators with binoculars. GV start of race, trucking shot - field over 1st and 2nd jump, trucking shot - the leader Out and About. Head on shot - field approaches Becher’s. MS field over Becher’s. Trucking shot - Out and About leads the field. GV horse round Canal Turn, trucking shot - Out and About leading Dandy Tim and French Lawyer. MS field past camera. LS Out and About over water jump. GV same horse leads field into second round, trucking shot - Out and About leading Loyal Tan. Head on shot - leader approaching Becher’s for the second time. MS field over Becher’s, trucking shot - Out and About leads field to Canal Turn. GV horses over and round Canal Turn. CU spectator, trucking shot - field over Valentine’s (26th fence) then Out and About falls at 27th fence, 28th fence. MLS leaders over last fence. LS leaders. CU excited crowd. MS Carrickbeg and Ayala to finish and Ayala winning. CU spectator. MS Ayala being led in (2 shots). MS spectators. Miss Pat Smythe with Ayala. MS race goer receives money. End title. The winner was ridden by Pat Buckley.
