Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Ever Jigged for a Squid?. DESCRIPTION: Every year, around late Summer and Autumn, the coastal waters of Newfoundland are a focal point for all inshore fishermen. The reason being the annual visitation of the squid. They are used as a delicious delicacy, or as bait for other fish. You catch them by using two light weight lines with a jigger on either end. This is a weight with a ring of sharp spikes - the squid actually catches itself, and because there are no barbs on the spikes you just flick them into the boat with a twist of the wrist.
