MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Wine Harvest Colour. DESCRIPTION: Set like a solitary ‘jewel’ in the vast Atlantic, the Island of Madeira is famed for its incomparable wines. Apart from its attractions as a holiday paradise, Madeira boasts the most fertile soil in the world. The grapes ripen slowly - the wines (after their unique heating treatment) mature slowly - but importers of Madeira blends are not slow to order every available cask of vintages which go back more than 300 years.
